Different Music Video Directors and their styles

Ahn Jun-hee (known professionally as Joseph Kahn) is a South Korean American film, and music video director. He has also done advertisements for Acura, Bacardi, BMW, Hewlett Packard, Gillette, Vodafone, Budweiser, ASICS, Renault, Mazda, Coors Light, NASCAR,Saab, Ford and Play Station. In addition, he has made these films: -
Kahn has collected multiple Music Video Production awards. He has won several MTV Video Music Awards with nominations for Best Video of the Year for Brandy & Monica "The Boy Is Mine", Britney Spears "Toxic", Chris Brown "Forever", the Pussycat Dolls "When I Grow Up", Eminem "We Made You", Britney Spears "Womanizer", and Eminem "Love the Way You Lie".
In 2002, Kahn won his first Grammy for Eminem's "Without Me" video which also won the MTV VMA's Best Video of the Year, as well as Best Direction. His video for Katy Perry "Waking Up In Vegas" won the MVPA 2009 Best Video of the Year.
In 2014, Kahn was given The Icon Award by the UK Music Video Awards.
In 2015, Kahn directed MTV's choices for Video of the Year, Best Pop Video, Best Female Video, and Best Collaboration for multiple videos from Taylor Swift's 1989 album. He won the Grammy Award for Best Music Video of 2015 for Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" ft. Kendrick Lamar.
For Taylor Swift's 'Out Of The Woods' video Kahn went with a more stylistic approach - he got Taylor Swift to perform the song and act-out a journey in different natural settings making the video more concept based. The narrative told a metaphorical story about someone finding themselves rather than a lover. In contrast, Kahn's music video for Katy Perry's 'Waking Up In Vegas' was comically narrative based. Kahn focuses on mise-en-scene, camera work, sound and editing equally as he mixes narrative, performance and concept based tropes into most of his music videos.

Diane Martel

Martel is an American music video Director and choreographer.

Her video for Miley Cyrus' 'We Can't Stop' is performance based, as our most of her other videos, this sis seen through the focus on the artists singing their tracks. Martel focuses a lot on mise-en-scene and camera work (and sound) and less on editing as she concentrates on her artists and film focuses rather than the anything else, e.g. a story.

Trey Fanjoy

Fanjoy's music video for Taylor Swift's 'Love Story' is narrative based, so is 'Something Bad' by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. The artists often perform for short periods of time during these videos but overall there is a story being conveyed to the video audience: sometimes an exaggerated story in order to make the visuals more entertaining - like in 'Something Bad', where the song artists are seen singing and acting-out the song using different character personas, whilst the video cuts from past to present in order to make the music video more like a comical short film. Fanjoy likes to use editing and focuses on that as well as sound and mise-en-scene - the camera work is also key but editing is the main focus for her in 'Something Bad'.
